How to create a Template

This article describes the placeholder syntax you can use in any Microsoft Word document to set it up as a DocFactory template.

Overview

Any Microsoft Word document can be setup as a DocFactory template.

Note: The file does not need to be a Microsoft Word Template file.

Edit your file in Microsoft Word, and add placeholders into the document whereever you would like information inserted during document generation.

In the example below of a Non-Discosure Agreement, we have used placeholders for today's date, the candidate name and candidate supplier.

Some placeholders, like the one used for today's date, will not prompt the user to enter any information but will just automatically insert today's date.

Other types of placeholders allow you to insert a kind of field, that will prompt the user to enter a value when they are generating a document. The entered value will be inserted into the final document.

Read more about the different types of placeholders next.
